Clear first. Process afterwards.

1. Allow a folder

Open Clean or Folders. Select the source folder and read the setup explanation. Enable Allow cleanup of this folder. Add exclusions for items that must stay visible.

2. Choose Clean Now

Eligible top-level files and ordinary folders move into a unique dated batch in Ensconce Inbox within the same source folder. Hidden and protected items, excluded items and incomplete downloads are preserved.

3. Set your schedule

Enable Clean daily and choose a local time, default 6 pm. Enable launch at login in Settings for unattended operation. Ensconce catches up when an enabled schedule is overdue after launch or wake.

4. Find your files

The library first shows filenames and metadata. OCR and semantic results become available progressively. Cloud files may wait for downloading. Audio/video content is not indexed; originals remain accessible.

5. Pause or undo

Pause stops processing between items. It does not disable clearing. Use Previous cleanups and undo, or History, to reveal or restore batches. Occupied original paths remain untouched; resolve conflicts before retrying.
